Avo & Toast: An Obituary

Jobs come and go, happen or don't happen. It's the nature of the beast and 99% of the time I don't lose too much sleep if things don't cross the finish line.

But when I worked on The California Adventures of Avo and Toast with Mullen Lowe for a big time avocado producer, something unusual happened: I fell in love with the little guys (the characters, not the client).

I really thought they had legs... and not just because I'd literally drawn them with literal legs.

The scripts made me laugh and the guys who did the voices did an incredible job.

The details of why it didn't happen aren't important but I'm posting them here, in their very own little section, like a shrine for you to discover.  And while you watch, imagine me standing at their graveside, doing that thing that they do in the movies, where I take a swig of whiskey and then pour some on the mound of dirt while I mouth the words 'Why? Why God?'

RIP Avo & Toast... the funnest non-job I ever had.
